This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information when you visit shoptechiemama.com, place an order, request a custom quote, or contact us.
ShopTechieMama is based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to that business. “You” refers to anyone who visits the site or buys from us.
We are responsible for the personal information under our control. If you have a question about anything in this policy, our contact details are at the bottom.
Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. Your full card number is submitted directly to that provider and is never stored on our systems. We receive only a confirmation of payment, the last four digits of the card, and the billing details needed to match the payment to your order.
We use personal information only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, and only for the purposes set out below:
Custom orders often involve information that matters to you personally: a child’s name, a birth date, a family photograph, the name of someone who has died. We treat this material as confidential. We use it to produce your order and for nothing else. We do not publish it, use it in marketing, or show it as a sample without asking you first and getting your agreement.
By providing personal information to us, you consent to our collecting, using and disclosing it as described in this policy. Where the information is sensitive, we will seek your express consent.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. If you withdraw consent for us to use information we need in order to fulfil an order you have already placed, we may not be able to complete that order.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
We share personal information only in the following circumstances:
Our website uses cookies, which are small files stored on your device. We use them for:
Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. If you block necessary cookies, the cart and checkout will not function.
Some pages include content served by third parties, such as our reviews widget and our chat widget. Those providers may set their own cookies, which are governed by their own privacy policies rather than this one.
We will only send you marketing or promotional email where you have given us consent to do so, as required by Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). We do not add customers to a marketing list automatically because they placed an order.
Every marketing email we send identifies us, includes our contact information, and contains a working unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing takes effect promptly and at the latest within 10 business days.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop transactional messages: order confirmations, shipping notices, proof approvals and replies to your questions. Those are part of fulfilling your order.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires.
We use security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site, restricted access to order and customer records, and payment processing by a provider that meets card industry security standards.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach of security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by law.
We are based in Canada. Some of our service providers, including our payment processor, hosting provider and email provider, may store or process information in the United States or other countries. Information stored in another country is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its courts and law enforcement.
Where information is transferred outside Canada, we use service providers that are contractually required to provide a comparable level of protection to that required under Canadian law.
Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), you have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for a reasonable request. We may ask you to verify your identity before we release information, so that we do not disclose your information to someone else.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca, or for Alberta matters to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta at oipc.ab.ca.
If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah or another US state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, you may have the following rights:
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, including the personal information of anyone under 16. There is accordingly nothing for you to opt out of, but the right is stated here for completeness.
To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days, extendable once by a further 45 days where reasonably necessary. We will ask you to provide information that lets us verify your identity against our records.
You may use an authorised agent to submit a request on your behalf. We will ask the agent for written proof of authorisation, and may ask you to confirm it directly.
Our website and products are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. Some of our products are made for children, but they are bought by adults, and we expect the purchaser to be an adult.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with the “Last updated” date at the top revised accordingly. Where a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention. Continuing to use the site after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
